Defamer Gig

The past Saturday night Defamer played here in Townsville at The Exchange Hotel and i happened to see them along with two support acts which were local bands from here (Shiftlock and Ghosts On Japan or something). Firstly, Ghosts played and they were generic deathcore that sounded like a bad mix of Suicide Silence and Bring Me The Horizon, but worse. Shiftlock are a somewhat better band and played a rather good set, they are a thrashy, groovy band with some rock influences. It is rather hard to pin them down to a genre, but they are a rather good band.

Then the main act from Brisbane, Defamer came on. They absolutely slayed the set, played most of their stuff from their only album and a couple others from other releases. They play a brutal brand of death metal, but it isn't brutal as in a generic band with the same grooving riff and overly guttural vocals. A nice review can be found: Here, a good site if you wanna look up metal albums.

The Month That is October

Well, October has just started and there are a few releases that i am looking forward to and there are a few other ones that i mightn't be looking forward to as much, but are still notable.

Hail of Bullets - On Divine Winds on the 11th

Looking forward to this album a fair bit, their debut was pretty good so i'm hoping this one could be an improvement. Contains members from bands such as Bolt Thrower, Asphyx and Pestilence.

Cradle of Filth - Darkly, Darkly Venus Aversa on the 22nd

I'm not a massive fan of Cradle of Filth, but they do have a few releases that are pretty good scattered amongst their discography and i will probably get around to listening to this eventually, not holding my breath that it will be great though.

Triptykon - Shatter on the 25th.

Albeit, this is only an EP. But i am really, really looking forward to this one. For those who do not know who Triptykon are, they are Tom G Warrior's (formerly of Celtic Frost) new band.. and they are awesome.

Other releases of note are:
Demons and Wizards - TBA
Krieg - The Isolationist
Helloween: 7 Sinners

Welcome to my blog!

This blog that i have created will be used to briefly discuss upcoming albums that i am looking forward to in the metal scene and any major news that is going around. I hope you enjoy it and find it interesting and informative.
